Manawatu-Foxton batted first against Weraroa at Manawatu College
No. 1. A steady opening partnership of 63 before Josh Parsons
was caught for 38 including 7 fours, Jason Houldsworth and
Karl Read then took the score through to 96 in the 22nd over
when Read was dismissed for 12. Houldsworth held the innings
together as wickets fell regularly, Manawatu-Foxton's middle
and tail order failing to score and being all out in the 38th
over for 134 runs.
Weraroa set a moderate
total were in trouble from the start and were all out in the
37th over for 107 runs, extras top scoring with 26. Bowling
for Manawatu-Foxton David Schlup was the pick with 4-23 off
8 overs, Myles Sayer and Marty Bull claimed 2 wickets each
and Steve Mattock and Scott Rogers picked up 1 wicket each.
A good win to
Manawatu-Foxton by 27 runs.
