Senior A:
A win to Manawatu-Foxton puts them in the One Finals.
Winning the toss Kane Duffy elected to bat first on the damp
Manawatu College No. 1 pitch against Paraparaumu, in the crucial
game to decide who would play KOB in the finals of the One
Day competition. Due the delayed start the game was reduced
to a 34 over per side fixture. Only three of the Manawatu-Foxton
batsmen, Mike Smith (44), Karl Read (13) and David Schlup
(16) showed any grit to stick around and build a score. With
extras helping (23), Manawatu-Foxton posted the score off
114 all out off 31.5 overs.
With captain Kane
duffy dissappointed with the Man-Fox. total, the bowlers decided
to take the task into their own hands and wickets fell at
regular intervals to have Paraparaumu all out for 96 in the
32nd over. Steve Mattock lead the way with 4-14 off his maximum
off 7 overs, David Schlup 2-9 off 6, Scott Rogers 2-16 off
7 and Mike Smith 2-6 off 2.5 overs were the destroyers. Extras
also had a big hand in the Praparaumu total with the top score
of 39, wides being the biggest with 25.
