A - Manawatu-Foxton miss out on winning the final of the County
Championship.
Scott Rogers
again won the toss for Man-Fox. and decided to field first against
Kapiti Old Boys at Manawatu College No. 1 pitch. Man-Fox went
into this game at the top of the table by 16 points only needing
to play to draw the game to take the Championship. Tremendous
bowling figures by David Schlup taking all 10 wickets in the KOB
innings, 6 caught and 4 bowled, bowling 23.1 overs on the trot.
Schlup's figures are a club first and becomes part of a very limited
band of cricketers to claim all the wickets in one innings. Schlup's
bowling putting Man-Fox. in a great position to win the game,
chasing KOB total of 150 all out in 46.1 overs.
Needing 151 runs to win the game off 50 overs plus the 13 overs
remaining of the KOB overs the Manawatu-Foxton batsmen failed
to apply themselves and capitulated to be all out for 119 off
38.4 overs. The only batsmen to show some fight were Nathan Paki
17, Craig McGhie 25, Scott Rogers 23 and David Schlup 15 not out.
All the Man-Fox. batsmen fell to poor shot selection to gift the
game to KOB. KOB taking 25 points from the game to put them on
the top of the table with 146 points and Man-Fox. taking 5 Bowling
and 1 batting point to finish with 143 points.
A
loss to Manawatu-Foxton by 31 runs.
