Senior A: Playing
Weraroa for the 2 day championship the game was transferred to
the artificial pitch at Donnelly Park in Levin due to the unplayable
conditions of the grass pitches.
Weraroa won the toss and
decided to bat first, only needing a first innings win to claim
the title, and batted for 113 overs to be 366 -9 all out with
one batsman retiring hurt. Bowling for Manawatu-Foxton David Schlup
bowled 35 overs to take another 5 wicket bag (5-124), Scott Rogers
2-66 off 22 overs, Steven Mattock 1-24 off 12 and Myles Sayer
1-65 off 22 overs to complete the wicket -takers.
Manawatu-Foxton lost the
wicket of Josh Parsons for 1 and then Jason Houldsworth for 26
to be 2-42 after 13 overs. Mike Smith scored his first century
for the club hitting 1 x 6 and 18 x 4 for his 127 runs and with
Kane Duffy (30), Scott Rogers (29) and Steve Mattock (20) Manawatu-Foxton
were all out after 62.1 overs for 280, 86 runs behind on the first
innings.
With no hope of an outright
result the match was called off and Weraroa win the 2 day championship.
Manawatu-Foxton finishing
the season runners-up in both the 1 day and 2 day competitions.
