Winning the toss and deciding to bat first against the Academy
side at Donnelly Park No. 1 artificial pitch, Manawatu-Foxton
were in a bit of trouble at 63 for 4 after 14 overs. Josh Parsons
(28) and Joseph Whareaitu (27) scoring at the top of the order
but it was left to David Schlup (34) and No. 11 batsman Myles
Sayer (0 not out) with a last wicket partnership of 34 runs
to see Man-Fox. through to a reasonable score of 144 all out
after 32.4 overs. The only other batsman to feature in the runs
was Michael Smith with 12, extras were a big help with 31 wides.
Needing to take early wickets to restrict the Academy batsmen
Man-Fox were not looking good with the Academy side being 103
for 3 after 30 overs and looking to press home for a victory.
With the introduction of Myles Sayer to the bowling crease the
Academy side crumbled to be 137 for 9 all out after 40.3 overs.
Sayer taking 4 for 18 off 9 overs, Kane Duffy 2-25 off 9, Scott
Rogers 1-15 off 5 and David Schlup 1-30 off 5.3 overs, were
the other wicket-takers.
A win to Manawatu-Foxton by 7 runs.
